Artist bio: Sahar Sepahdari or Sailor Noom lives in Brooklyn, N.Y. She holds an M.F.A. from the Low-Residency program at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago and a B.F.A. and B.A. from Parsons and Eugene Lang at The New School. She decodes social norms and cultural intersections through radical humor, focusing on object-oriented feminism and time-based art. Writing is at the core of her practice as is the poetics of place. As an immigrant/refugee of the Iran/Iraq War, much of their work addresses the radical joy at the core of mourning. There are those that have referred to their practice as that of a death doula. They work within the axis of healing as a space for multiplying meaning through translation and embodiment. They are a video and performance artist, and their recent work focuses on animation, while she practices digital painting as an outsider painter and poet. She has shown her work in The Wrong Biennale, at the Film Makers Coop (New American Cinema), U10 Art Space (Belgrade), and Fountain House Gallery (NYC).
